Dr Desmond Okpara joined the surgery on 1st July 2020 as the Clinical Lead. We have been inspired to rename it Broughton Corner Family Practice as it is now part of The Family Practice Group and also a practice that welcomes and treats all patients as their family.

It seems like destiny reliving a fairy tale as I was born in Croydon General Hospital, which was eventually transferred to the then Mayday Hospital, now the Croydon University Hospital. My family house on Broughton road was only 2 minutes’ walk from the surgery and I was a registered patient till joining Dr Vajpeyi and our wonderful, diverse Practice team.

My early education was at West Thornton Primary Academy School (Previously West Thornton Primary School ) which is on the same road as our surgery, so I have so many happy childhood memories surrounding me which I continue to relive and share every day. Interestingly, my first job as a qualified GP was at Brigstock Family Practice on Brigstock Road(also part of the Family Practice Group) before I joined Edridge Road Community Health Centre in Croydon as their Clinical Lead for 6 years and later North Croydon Medical Centre on London Road. I am proud that in my 14 years’ experience as a GP in Croydon, I have taken positive steps in my career and finally returned to the surgery I can wholeheartedly call my family as I feel right at home.

Share our history and journey with others and encourage your friends and relatives to register with us whilst we continue to keep our promise to deliver a shockingly positive patient experience.
